Exhibition in Sandridge and why size matters

exhibition

Well the walls are pretty much painted (last week I was up late at night and up at seven helping Mum) and a lot of the pictures are framed so we thought we should reveal the poster/invitation so that you can all put the dates in your diary. This is what’s so nice about having a graphic designer in the family – all those pesky things like publicity material get sorted out beautifully for you.

If you want to download a nice higher resolution pdf version of this to print off which has a description of the project on the other side you can download it here.

We have begun to realise that when selling on-line size matters. Anything that can't fit into standard packaging is a real pain to market. Sorting out non-standard packaging is difficult, time-consuming and expensive. And then with the new way that the British post office charge — where you now get penalised for dimensions as well as weight, it really isn't worth attempting to sell anything over the internet that is too fragile, heavy or big.

So our next task is to encourage Mum to stick to working to a postable size in the future.

If you are interested in buying any of the artwork but can't get here send us an e-mail giving us a link to the picture you're interested in and we'll let you know how much we're going to charge and more importantly whether it would be suitable to be posted.

I'm back!

I’m finally home from the Tall Ships' Race - it was honestly the most amazing experience of my life - and I have returned to find out that one of Mum’s paintings was commended at the St Albans Art Society Summer Exhibition. So far I haven’t had the chance to see the show but I am told that a special mention should go to Eva Tomkins, (particularly as she has an online presence we can link to for you) who exhibited three huge and amazing watercolours of the interior of St Albans Abbey.

The other good news was that my new bright red clunky plastic ‘art dealer’ glasses had arrived so expect some pictures of me with yet another new look on mum’s Family Portrait blog, and the house is filled with the chemical smell of paint as the parents have spent the summer making preparations for the "gallery" to be hung with pictures.
